News about Stephen's ankle...

Saw Dr. Brookenthal a pediatric orthopedic surgeon today who is suppose to be the best who said Stephen needs surgery to put two clamps or pins in his ankle to pull the growth plate and bones back together. Broke right through the growth plant into the joint. He wanted to do surgery tonight but Stephen's foot was too swollen. It's about two times it's regular size. He said if he did surgery right now, the skin is too soft and that when he sews him back up, the skin could disintegrate and cause infection. The doctor is leaving for vacation Thursday and back on Tues. He is referring us to his partner to do the surgery. Stephen will have surgery when the swelling goes down, probably Thursday or Friday. They want to get in there as soon as possible as not to disturb the healing that is taking place in the growth plate now.
We cancelled our camp-out tomorrow night...

Well... Stephen broke his lower leg bones tonight!

Just came home from emergency. (Thanks Chandelyn for the picture!) Collision on bike! He was riding in the front yard and a friend got his pant leg stuck in the chain and accidentally collided into him as they were both going full speed.

Found out it broke into his growth plate of both bones in his lower leg. Very dangerous as it could affect the growth of his leg that was broken. One leg could come out shorter than the other in years to come. Seeing an pediatric orthopedic surgeon hopefully Monday.

Funny! Our life is 50% baseball and I have no baseball pictures. So here's a few.

Brennen is trying out for High School ball, Stephen hit a grand Slam and we won the game by 4 points. Paul and Mark play on the same team the "Pirates" and are still in play-offs, winning up a storm. Tonight we are playing the #1 team. Paul made the 10 year old All Star team that will go to Cooperstown, and Mark made the 9 year old All Star team. Blake was the youngest player on his team this year and was recognized as one of the better hitters of kids 7, 8 and 9 yrs. old. I didn't have him try out for All-Stars. Too busy.

The boys are making up their mind if they will play All-Star baseball or football. They have to make of their minds quick.

Currently the boys are into BMX Bike racing. Just started 1 week ago and want to be professional BMX riders. (I hope not! Very expensive sport) The boys just got new bikes. That's why I work. To give them things they might not be able to experience otherwise.
